What We've Done
Porter Midas Digital Touchscreen Flowmeter
The Porter Midas™ is a next-generation nitrous oxide flowmeter that combines precision delivery with an advanced touch-based interface and a suite of safety, monitoring, and connectivity features. Arcane Four Software contributed to the development of the embedded software and played a key role in shaping the HMI design.
Karma Automotive
CES showcases the most futuristic electronics tech every year, and this year, a unique Ottawa-based collaboration will be front and centre at Karma Automotive's booth. The Southern California designer of the Revero electric vehicle, with up to 482 kilometres of range, will showcase its latest model, which is chock-full of Ottawa technology.
Mimetics Canada
Mimetics wanted a cross-platform application to help students learn programming by writing code to control the Jade Robot, a sophisticated robot with an embedded programming language. Arcane Four used its expertise with USB, Bluetooth, low-level programming languages and JavaScript to create Jade Support, a web-based application.
BlackBerry QNX
Arcane Four Software developed a comprehensive system to demonstrate the linear scaling capabilities of QNX SDP 8.0 at CES 2024. This included a load generation system with tasks like mathematical computations and neural network processing, a dynamic load management system, and performance monitoring with metrics on CPU usage and system responsiveness. Remote control and monitoring were enabled through MQTT, while a Unity-based visualization tool showcased real-time performance metrics, highlighting the system's efficiency in handling multi-core loads. The project successfully demonstrated QNX's advancements, reinforcing Arcane Four's expertise in embedded systems engineering.
Sciemetric Instruments
Sciemetric Instruments, a company that develops hardware and software for optimizing quality and performance of manufacturing systems, wanted to add a scripting language runtime to their embedded Industrial Monitoring platform. Arcane Four used its expertise with QNX and Lua Programming Language to design and implement this runtime and worked with Sciemetric's engineering team to integrate the runtime into their product.
Xperi
Xperi wanted to create an impressive in-car demonstration of various technologies in their portfolio. Arcane Four used its expertise with QNX, IoT and Android Auto to work with Xperi and Studio 63 in integrating Xperi automotive technologies into a Karma Revero for the 2019 New York Auto Show and a Karma Revero GT for CES 2020.
Lixar
Amazon Web Services, BlackBerry QNX and Karma Automotive wanted to create an impressive proof of concept to showcase various emerging technologies and software platforms that the companies are developing. Arcane Four worked with Lixar's Data Science and Cloud Infrastructure team to implement an impressive IoT-enabled embedded system in a Karma Revero GT, integrating numerous AWS and QNX technologies together under very tight timelines.
QNX Cabin for SoC
QNX® Cabin is a hardware-portable, pre-integrated digital cockpit software reference implementation that provides a development framework for designing digital cockpit systems. Arcane Four built the QNX Cabin from the ground up in Unity3D and developed a custom native plugin using QNX Screen to integrate QNX and Hypervisor guest applications into the cabin.
Crank Software
Crank Software, a company that develops high-performance embedded UI middleware, wanted to provide native 3D rendering and 3D animation capabilities to the Storyboard Runtime Engine. Arcane Four used its expertise with 3D rendering pipelines, scene management and mobile and desktop OpenGL to implement support for 3D model animation and dynamic materials.
Red Giant
Red Giant, an award-winning developer of motion graphics and VFX tools, wanted to update various mature tools in Trapcode Suite to leverage GPU hardware prevalent in today's desktop computers. Arcane Four used its extensive OpenGL and GPU programming expertise to implement a GPU accelerated rendering pipeline for these tools resulting in impressive performance gains.
Hyperspectral Intelligence
A compact dual-spectral scan head system combines cutting-edge optical precision with a rugged, ultra-lightweight design, enabling researchers and professionals to collect laboratory-grade spectra anywhere with ease. Arcane Four provided end-to-end engineering expertise for Hyperspectral, supporting hardware selection, designing and implementing a custom dual-spectral acquisition software suite, and developing the integrated wireless control interface.
Musicology
Musicology is a peer-to-peer video conferencing platform designed for teaching music online, featuring full-duplex audio and fully collaborative, interactive tools that engage students through the screen. Arcane Four Software developed the platform from the ground up, delivering the software that brought this vision to life.
